Project Description:
The Marriott Residence Inn located in Irvine, CA, consists of 8-levels of 7” thick post-tensioned slab. The floor plan is U-shaped accommodating a courtyard and pool in a central area.

Typical floors are approximately 17,500 square feet, with a total square footage of nearly 142,000.

The suspended slabs were formed with a conventional handset metal shoring system.

The wall forms were designed as a heavy aluminum gang system and the columns were a modular handset form.

The vertical elements consisted of 12” thick shearwalls and 12” wide X 24” deep rectangular columns.

The initial schedule was based on limited hoisting availability and a handset forming system. Midway through the project the schedule was accelerated to assist the client with an early grand opening date.
