Project Description:
The Downtown Sunnyvale Parking Structure consists of four levels below grade, providing the foundation for three structural steel buildings above. The below grade parking area totals over 700,000 square feet of suspended slab plus over 900,000 square feet above grade.

The building foundation footprint was shored using a steel pile and wood lagging system. Other contractors provided the final perimeter retaining system, installed waterproofing and shotcrete.

Lower levels are made of 8 ½” thick mild steel slabs. These areas are relatively uncomplicated with minimal grade changes and two access ramps.

The Ground Level slab is 10” thick and has column capitals at each column that accommodated the anchor bolt for the structural steel office building. Vertical supports at the interior of the building consist of 85,000 square feet of shear wall and 1,120 columns.

Pours areas were approximately 15,000 to 20,000 square feet. The entire 700,000 square feet of elevated slab was completed in 9 months. McClone Construction provided approximately 90,000 square feet of “HV” Titan forming system, to accommodate the aggressive schedule.
